Terms of service

The rules for using a getmail.ca address.

In effect 10 September 2026.

Who provides the service

getmail.ca is operated by 2510138 Alberta Inc., carrying on business as Byte Crunch, in Alberta, Canada ("we", "us"). By using an address on getmail.ca you agree to these terms.

Accounts

Accounts are opened by us, by hand, for businesses and people we work with. There is no public sign-up. You are responsible for what is done with your account, for keeping its password to yourself, and for telling us at once if you think someone else has it. One person or business is responsible for each mailbox. Only you and anyone you authorise may send from your mailbox; if you ask us in writing to write from it on your instructions, we may do so, and we write in no other business's name.

What you may not do

  • Send unsolicited bulk mail, marketing campaigns, newsletters or any message to a list of people who did not ask to hear from you.
  • Use a purchased, rented, harvested or scraped list of addresses.
  • Send mail on behalf of anyone outside your own organisation, or let anyone you have not authorised send through your account.
  • Send anything unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive or malicious, forge the sender of a message, or impersonate anyone.
  • Try to break, overload or work around the security of the service, or use it to attack anyone else.
  • Resell the service or give addresses on it to the public.

This is a service for ordinary correspondence between people who are expecting to hear from each other. If you need to send campaigns or bulk mail, use a service built for it.

Suspension

We may suspend or close an account immediately, without notice, if we believe it is being used in breach of these terms, if it is sending mail that harms the service or its other users, or if we are required to. Where we can, we tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.

Your mail is yours

You keep ownership of everything in your mailbox. We claim no rights over it beyond what is needed to store, deliver and show it to you. You can take a complete copy at any time over IMAP.

Availability

We work to keep the service running and to answer problems quickly, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error free. Planned work is scheduled outside business hours where we can. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.

Fees and ending the service

Any fees are those set out in your agreement with us. You can close your account at any time by writing to support@getmail.ca. We can end the service on thirty days' notice, except where these terms allow us to act sooner, and we will help you take your mail with you.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the version on this page is the one in force, and we will write to account holders about anything significant. These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the laws of Canada that apply there.
